A doughnut or donut is a type of fried dough confectionery or dessert food.
2 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup sour milk (mass)
1/4 tsp bicarb
4 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp fresh nutmeg powder
Beat eggs till frothy.
Add sugar, butter and sour milk and beat well.
Sift 3 cups flour, baking powder, bicarb and salt
Add to the batter mixture. Using a wooden spoon and mix the dough.
Use the balance of the flour to make a nice soft dough.
Use a doughnut cutter and fry in deep oil, on medium heat.
Once brown on one side turn, only two turns.
Drain on paper towel, and dip in warm sugar syrup.
2 cup sugar
1½ cup hot water
Boil till slightly thick
Remove from heat and keep warm
