1 cup sugar
2 Tblsp melted butter
4 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup milk
Whisk the egg until light and fluffy.
Add sugar gradually and mix well.
Then add the melted butter.
Mix all dry ingredients.
Add the dry ingredients and milk to the egg mixture.
Mix well until a dough is formed.
Roll on a floured table and cut out doughnut shapes.
Fry in hot oil.
Once golden brown, allow it to soak in sugar syrup (2½ cups water and 2 cups sugar, boiled till thick) then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or decorate with caramel, cream, icing sugar or chocolate.
