Irene’s Steak & Mushroom Curry


Fry 1 onion in a little oil on medium heat with a level teaspoon each of jeera & fennel seed and 2 bay leaves for +- 5mins.
Add 1 tsp tumeric,
2 tsp dhania jeera powder,
2 tsp ginger and garlic paste,
3 tbs Bombay masala,
1 tbs kashmiri chilli powder and braise for +- 5 mins.
Add 1  kg cubed tenderised steak, curry leaves and salt to taste, mix well with spices and cook on high for a +- 5mins and then lower heat to medium and cook until almost done.
Add water, a little at a time whenever necessary.
Add 2 tomatoes (grated),
2 punnets mushrooms,
½ cup frozen peas (optional).
Cook until steak is done.
Sprinkle with a tsp garam masala.
Serve with rice, roti or in a bunny chow. Bon appetite!
